1. B.achievement is learned motivation

2. C. affiliation ... because socializing is socializing and getting close to people... connecting with people...

3. A.Extreme diets can be dangerous to your health.

Because those promoting the fad diets KNOW that a person trying to lose weight will try anything and do almost anything to lose the weight. Knowing that... they can be very dangerous...

4.Damage to the ventromedial hypothalamus of a laboratory animal produces which condition?

d.Extreme thirst (although an argument could be made for A. Obesity since people overeat and gain weight)

(the following is an excerpt from )

Other changes which occur with damage to the ventromedial hypothalamus include:
1. They drink excessive amounts of water.
2. They are less responsive than normal rats are to the satiating effects of glucose.
3. They are finicky eaters, in that they overeat more on a particularly tasty diet.
4. Although they overeat when food is readily available, they will not work as hard as normal rats to get food.
----------------------------------------------------

5. D. Love....

According to Paul Ekman in an interview... this was his answer... he did not mention love... He DID mention happiness, anger and surprise... because you can read happiness, anger, and surprise on a person's face... but you can't really read/see love on a person's face...

Q. What are the basic human emotions?
A. There are seven that have very clear facial signals - anger, sadness,
fear, surprise, disgust, contempt and happiness.
