Question by bluelotus314: What is the best way to confront a friends doctor whom is prescribing medication to an addict?
A close friend of ours has been taking opiates for several years. He is currently 28 but has been prescribed codeine for pain regularly as a teenager and was prescribed Oxycontin for a head injury about 3 years ago. He was taking up to 10 80mg Oxy per day. 6 months ago he started methadone treatment in an attempt to ween himself off and is now taking Suboxone 4 times a day and Quanapin prescribed by his pain doctor. He has seen the same pain doctor since he was a teenager and he also sees a psychologist whom prescribes him a second prescription for Quanapin (we doubt he knows about the other doctor prescribing him). He has a noticeable addiction problem with alcohol and recreational drugs as well. We are trying to get him help.    Read more...

I want to scream and get VERY angry at people who’ve witnessed my hideously protracted and complex breakup with my uncommon outlaw husband of 10 years and tell me the same old other fish in the sea CRAP when they don’t know the complications. They’re too complex to describe here, but I need a certain exact physical and mental type or there’s no sexual interest to me. But longhaired guys w/ no beard, genius intellect, obsessive devotion to his art, music, activism, writing etc. NEED to be there. I’m 41, herpes, hep c, exjunkie on methadone, used to work sex industry, 200 lbs (5’8″) w/bizarre occult interests. Not what guys who I would WANT to have anything to do with would think of as a great catch. I can feel good about self, but he was IT, partnerwise, and anyone else would feel like less. I refuse to “settle for” someone who makes me feel less, as it would both be boring for me & also hurt the other guy. How can I get friends to stop telling me I’ll find someone else?
