Methadone Addictions: Are You Struggling With a Methadone Addiction

I know for a fact that is speaking from my experience about methadone addiction that a lot of people start using it to get off of heroin. When I first started using methadone I was using it for the buzz because it was legal and I did not have to chase it the way I did heroin. At this point I was not hooked yet this did not happen until many years later.

Methadone is nothing to toy around with; for instance, I have seen you people at the methadone clinic coming in to get off of vicodin. In my opinion unless this is done properly they will end up with a methadone addiction which will in the end be even harder to stop than the vicodin.

Methadone for Addiction: Methadone and Addiction: Facts Behind the Drug

Methadone is a narcotic analgesic, which means that it acts as an intense pain reliever. It works by acting on an addict’s central nervous system, suppressing pain via pain receptor sites. It is used to help those with an addictive drug such as heroin, however itself has addictive properties. Why is methadone addictive? It’s because when a supposedly recovering addict’s brain becomes used to the pain relief provided by methadone (as opposed to natural painkillers, or endorphins), the addict is “desensitized” towards all natural means and seeks pain relief through the continuous use of methadone.

One of the most serious side effects of methadone is that it suppressed your ability to breathe normally. This is why heroin addicts with chronic conditions such as asthma or sleep apnea need to use other treatments for heroin addiction. Other side effects of methadone use include stomach problems, impaired judgment, and can lead to overdose.

Treatment for Methadone: Some Information on Heroin Addiction Treatment That You Must Know

Families who bring in their members for heroin addiction treatment are usually grossly unaware how this form of treatment is. It is true that heroin is widely acknowledged as the strongest form of addiction. This is because of the inherent manner in which heroin acts. Heroin is an opioid and being that it targets specific areas of the person’s central nervous system as soon as it is consumed. This is what causes the person to have the heroin high. However, over time, the person’s brain will adjust to the heroin dosage it is getting and that is why there will be an increased craving for the substance.

This is why it becomes very difficult to get a person out of the tendency for using heroin. The heroin rehab centers have to do all they can before they can successfully bring the person out of the tendency. The person’s brain keeps the addiction on even if the body wants to come out of the habit. Due to this, mere counseling and other forms of mild treatment do not work when it comes to heroin recovery.

Using Methadone to Detox: Why Would My Girlfriend Go to Detox? Seroquil or Opiate Addiction?

Question by iamwetoddid365: Why would my girlfriend go to detox? Seroquil or opiate addiction?
I think my girlfriend is lying to me. She told me that she has been trying to get off of Seroquil and has to go to the hospital for “detox” 5-7 days. My brother is a psychiatry resident and told me that withdrawal from seroquil does not require detox and a 5-7 day period is used for withdrawal from heroin or opiates. I suspect she is not telling me the truth and said that she was going to be violently ill and I couldn’t visit her. A 5-7 day stop in the hospital where you get violently ill sounds like withdrawal from methadone, not seroquil. What do you think?
