Question by somewhat_med: Chances that she is still a drug addict?
I saw my ex best friend whom I haven’t seen in 2 years this past weekend. She told me she is a “recovered drug addict”, do drug addicts actually ever “recover”?
She was snorting coke, smoking crack, taking Oxycontins, Methadone and other various pain pills. She said she quit doing the drugs by going to NA meetings, but didn’t go to any treatment facilities or seek counseling. She says she has been clean for a year, but has a had a “couple” slip ups. She was acting extremely happy and energetic when I saw her, but she refused to look me in the face when she was speaking to me. I’m just wondering what are the chances that she really is clean, I always thought you had to detox, then go to rehab or something for a while to truly quit.    Read more...

Question by Biking in 209: What kind of drug test shows a positive test for heroin/methadone?
My ex-wife is a heroin addict who is in methadone “treatment”. She is coming after my children that I have had 75% custody of since the seperation. She has told the court that she is in treatment, but family and friends state that she is currenty back on heroin and maybe abusing her methadone. My problem is that the county court’s drug test is a hair test and only shows up “opiates”. My lawyer is convinced that no other test will work. I am desperate to find a test that will either show heroin and methadone seperate, or will show she’s abusing her doses. This woman walked out of her family’s life and five years later has no job, income, and has another child out of wedlock. I have three children that are scared to death to be with her, and when they do, they always come back emotionally scarred. Please help! Thanks    Read more...
