Question by Krista: Methadone Abuse, Please Help.?
My mother has been on Methadone for some time now. Every time I am around her, I notice she “Nods Off”. She can be doing something as simple as texting someone, and literally nod off and drop her phone. Is this a sign she may be “abusing” the drug? I’ve read if the dosage is to high, or she is taking something else with the methadone, this can occur. Please help!!

The symptoms of Methadone abuse is very similar to the side effects opiates cause (heroin, OxyContin, hydrocodone, morphine, etc.). The common symptoms are drowsiness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Abuse can lead to troubled sleep that leads to an unusual sleep schedule. Headaches, dry mouth, itchiness, fainting, lack of appetite, excessive sweating, flush, and weight gain are also common signs.    Read more...

Okay,

So, I suffer from Bipolar- (i’m a 25y/o) severe psychotic depression, and psychotic out bursts. Basically I rotate between being very violent, and very, very sad and conscience-stricken. I’m a miserable person and look forward to nothing, but won’t kill myself because I don’t want to make my parents sad.

Anyway, I’m trying to get help, again. I have been going to psychiatrists and psychologists since I was 13 years old, and have been on many, many different medications (too many to list). I guess I’m also a “drug addict”. I smoke pot every night- it helps me sleep, and is a quick fix for my mania. I also will drink wine… Occasionally I take xanax, and if I do, i’ll take anything else. Like last weekend, I took xanax, then accidently took Ecstasy! You can’t imagine the depression I felt afterwards. I took the xanax for my severe social anxiety- but then I blacked out… I might have even had sex with a random guy in a jacuzzi, but i’m not sure). I can’t handle the guilt.    Read more...

Question by JT289385: I started on a regimin of 80mg of methadone a day 10 days ago?
10 days ago I used my last hit of heroin , At that time my doc , (which is a addiction specialist ) put me on 80 mg of met a day . In that ten days I have droped myself down to 70mg for the last 4 days and seem to be fine with the drop . Now is this feasible ? to drop 10 mg every 10 days untill I am off ( one quick note )-( I have a very good friend that runs a christian based recovery home that would be dosing my pills ) anyhow in 7 weeks time of droping my dose like this will I experiance any real discomfort ? My mom is planning on giving me a drug test. I dont really know when though, my brother decided to tell me LAST MINUTE that my mom said, “When it hits two months since she been back home im gonna give her a drug test” ITS ALMOST BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE IVE BEEN BACK! Question by shelman23: Can you shoot up vicodin?, and if true how do you get them off it?
I have a friend that shoots up all sorts of crap, and he wants to quit, but is terrified of the withdrawls. I know they can be bad, but I don’t want him to do the methadone route because too often the addicts then just use that too, while using the drug they are trying to get off the original drug? It seems like there is just no way to get them off it, except to never have started which is too late now!

Opiates have the worst with drawls. They are also the most addictive. Addiction to any kind of Opiate is cheesy because they are the worst kind of drugs. Your friend needs to go cold turkey. He is looking at possession charges someday, and will be forced by the system to quit. Why not stop while not in trouble with the law.    Read more...
