Well, do you feel that you have a drug abuse problem? Do you take you medication to achieve adequate pain relief, or do you take it for other reasons? Has your doctor expressed concern about your medication usage? I am just wondering why you feel that you are an “addict”. If you truly feel that your life is becoming unmanageable because of drug-seeking behaviors, continuing to abuse your Norco (if you are even abusing it-how much are you supposed to take? Do you take more than you are supposed to? Why?) despite negative consequences, and you have become psychologically dependent on Norco (these are symptoms of addiction/drug abuse), then you should tell your doctor you want to discontinue the Norco, and he should (if he is a good, responsible, smart doctor) create a plan to wean you off your meds, and avoiding withdrawal symptoms. This should include prescribing you something like Suboxone, which is used for the same reasons as methadone is for heroin addiction. You should also go to counseling, and N.A. meetings, for support from other people.

University Student With Opiate Problem, How Do I Quit?

Question by girlwithoutaplanet: University student with opiate problem, how do I quit?
HI! I am a straight A student with a moderate opiate problem (have been using for 4 months, on and off), when I try to stop I can deal with the mild physical symptoms, like aches and diarrhea (as my addiction is not severe), but the fatigue is so bad that I am pretty much catatonic during the day, so that makes me want to use just so that I can do my homework, study, etc. What can I do, I haven’t been able to stop for more than three days? Oh and coffee helps, but it gives me severe anxiety if I drink too much (since that too is a symptom of withdrawal and is exacerbated when I drink coffee). Any suggestions?

I was thinking of quiting during the reading week in February, will 7 days be enough? Again, any remedies for energy depletion?
